I believe that when people search for a photographer to document their wedding, pregnancy, newborn, or any other milestone, not only should the photographer’s work resonate with them, there must be a deeper connection for the resulting images to shine. That’s part of why I’m so “me” (for lack of a better word) on my website, social media and prep guides. I want my people to feel connected to me, and I want to connect with them.
When I step back and think about it, I feel amazed and so, so blessed when people invite me into their homes to photograph their newborn during one of the most intimate and raw times of their lives. That in and of itself takes so much trust, and I never lose sight of that. But also, when we’re out walking through some random field and I’m telling people to gaze lovingly into each other’s eyes, I want for us to all laugh at how awkward it can be.
The L family is so down-to-earth, fun-loving and all-around great. Their personalities just ooze out of the images, and I find myself smiling like a dummy when looking at them. Just me? I sincerely doubt it!
